Staff and faculty at R. Dan Nolan Middle School, part of the School District of Manatee County, proposed naming the cafetorium “Jeffers Dining Hall” during the public comments at the School Board meeting on February 24, 2026. This honors Scott Jeffers, a founding staff member who dedicated 30 years to education. Jeffers began as an eighth-grade math teacher at the school, later serving as a school support specialist. A proud military veteran, he also served as an ROTC instructor at Florida Southern College in Lakeland and taught at Lincoln Memorial Middle School before joining Nolan. The nomination form details his contributions. Following submission, the Communications Department published the proposed name on the district website and notified media, as required by School Board policy. A minimum of 60 days must elapse between the public presentation and the Board’s vote on the name. This initiative celebrates educational legacy in the Rye Ranch community, inspiring students and staff.137
